The New saying of the Worldis a collection of literary sketches compiled by Liu Songyi (403--444) of the Song Imperial Court of the Southern Dynasties. The book mainly records the old tales, episodes and trifles about the influential and privileged class from the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty to the Wei State of the Three Kingdoms and the Jin Dynasty, and lays emphasis on those during the Jin Dynasty. However, the book records the characters from the emperors, generals and premiers to the scholars, common people and monks, in addition to the influential and privileged class.
