Add to basketA shipyard with a windmill in the background. Printdrawing by Cornelis Ploos van Amstel (Weesp 1726-1798 Amsterdam), after Herman Saftleven (Rotterdam 1609-1685 Utrecht). Sheet size 66 x 92 mm., made c. 1765. Printdrawing is a graphic technique that resembles drawing, and uses combinations of etching, roulette, stipple engraving, and aquatint to accomplish this. Cornelis Ploos van Amstel was an avid collector of Dutch drawings, and is credited with inventing the technique of printdrawing. In excellent condition, cropped within platemark. With the mark of Ploos van Amstel (Lugt 2725) stamped on the verso. References: Laurentius 3 (i/2); Van Huffel 2.
