8vo. xxi, [1] 512 pp. Illustrations, index. Original gilt-stamped red cloth; extremities faded, small paper label affixed to spine. Embossed stamp of Carnegie Institution [HALE]. Very good copy. REVISED EDITION. William Thompson Sedgwick was a teacher, epidemiologist, bacteriologist, and a key figure in shaping public health in the United States. He taught biology at MIT. He was president of many scientific and professional organizations during his lifetime, including president of the American Public Health Association in 1915. He was one of three founders of the joint MIT-Harvard School of Public Health in 1913. That being said, he was against women's suffrage and was steadfastly against equality of the sexes, stating, ". . . would mean a degeneration and degradation of human fibre which would turn back the hands of time a thousand years." — MacAdam, George. Prices are net. Any local taxes are collected are required. Shipping extra. We ship SWISS POST all over the world. Returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee (if received in original condition). Returns are only allowed within 30 days and only under certain conditions:

The seller is not required to accept a return for this reason and may choose to cancel the return request. The return is considered to be accepted unless cancelled by the seller within two business days. Items lost are refunded (30 days is the limit, though delays in shipments can be longer). Damaged items: Full or partial refunds are granted depending on the status of the item received. The buyer is refunded the item price, original shipping, plus return shipping equal to the original shipping. Refunds, or returns, are granted for items ?not as described?. There is a possibility of mutual disagreement, if the dealer disagrees then the buyer is responsible for return shipping. If the item is not as described and both the buyer and the seller agree, then the buyer is refunded the item price, original shipping, plus return shipping equal to the original shipping. If for any reason the wrong item is delivered, the buyer is refunded the item price, original shipping, plus return shipping equal to the original shipping. If the dealer accepts an order but cannot supply the item then the order is fully refunded. If the buyer cancels the order prior to being shipped, then the buyer is refunded the item price plus original shipping. Partial refunds are sometimes granted for reasons involving condition, or corrections; typical are partial shipping refunds. All returns, regardless of payment method, are subject to the return policies of ABE Books. All return disputes are to be handled between the seller and buyer.
