Author: Nunn, Rev. H. P. V. (Henry Preston Vaughan) Title: A Short Syntax of New Testament Greek Publication Details: Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1913. Second Edition (first published 1912). Binding: Original dark blue cloth boards with gilt lettering and Cambridge University Press crest to the spine. Condition: Good. Description: An early second edition of Rev. H. P. V. Nunn's A Short Syntax of New Testament Greek, published by Cambridge University Press in 1913. Written for students of theology and Biblical Greek, this scholarly work provides a concise and systematic introduction to New Testament Greek syntax, examining grammatical constructions and their interpretation with examples drawn from the New Testament and classical Greek. The 1913 second edition includes revisions and corrections to the original 1912 publication. Bound in the original publisher's dark blue cloth, with gilt lettering and the Cambridge University Press crest to the spine. Condition: Good. The original cloth binding is well preserved, with minor rubbing and wear to the spine extremities and corners. The gilt lettering remains bright and clearly legible. Internally, the pages are generally clean and well preserved, with light age-toning and occasional foxing, principally affecting the preliminary leaves. The binding appears sound. The front endpaper bears a prominent historical ownership stamp reading "Ex Libris D. Monckton", together with handwritten ownership inscriptions, including one dated 1915. Provenance: From the library of the Reverend Dr David Monkton (1932–2025), a longstanding Methodist minister associated with the Nottingham and Derby Methodist District. Dr Monkton's distinguished pastoral career included service as a chaplain to Nottinghamshire Police, chaplaincy work in residential care settings and later ministry as a supernumerary Methodist presbyter. He also had associations with Brewood, Staffordshire. The book bears his distinctive "Ex Libris D. Monckton" library stamp on the front endpaper. The earlier handwritten inscription dated 1915 represents a separate stage in the volume's ownership history. This ecclesiastical provenance adds particular interest to an early twentieth-century scholarly work devoted to the language of the New Testament. An attractive Cambridge University Press edition, of interest to collectors of Biblical Greek, theological literature, ecclesiastical history and books with documented clerical provenance.…
