Shortcake (Paperback or Softback)

A genetically engineered child with no memory of her past. A killer with dreams of destruction. And the fate of a city hanging in the balance.

Amanda and Evan represent the future of human potential. They’ve been genetically engineered to physical and mental perfection. But perfection comes at a price, and when Amanda’s grows too high, she escapes the research facility she calls home, her mind a blank slate to prevent her from ever going back.

But no one can outrun their past forever…

With the truth of her existence nipping at her brain, Amanda finds herself longing for something more. Her innocent world is shattered by life’s harsh realities, by a serial killer hellbent on fulfilling a prophecy of death and devastation, by those from whom she fled years ago, and by the companion she left behind, a companion whose evolution followed a far different course than her own.

Now, Amanda is the only thing standing between her city and total annihilation. To save those she loves, she must make an impossible choice: retain her newly discovered humanity, or become the lethal weapon she was designed to be.
