8vo, III-520 pp., modern hardbinding. Complete year. The Siam Repository was published from 1869 to 1874 by the American Baptist missionary Samuel John Smith, who arrived in Bangkok in 1849. He had been the personnal secretary to Phra Pin Klao, Mongkut's brother and second King, and founded a press in 1865. Smith printed buddhist sermons, he began the Siam Weekly Advertiser (1868-1885) and from 1882 to 1885, he published a Thai weekly newspaper, Chotmaihet Sayamsamai. Uncommon Bangkok imprint, a few years before King Chulalongkorn established a Royal Printing Office. Paper yellowed, dry stamp on title page.
