The Sifted Generation: Tested, Tried, and Found True

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. - 1 Thess. 5:4

In The Sifted Generation, the question is put forth: Has the final generation, spoken of by Jesus and the prophets, finally arrived? Could our generation be the one that is witnessing events pointing toward the second coming of the Lord? If so, will you be one of the faithful Jesus finds when He calls His church to heaven just before the coming Seven-year Tribulation period?

The days in which we live are bringing to bear some very strong cultural, emotional, and spiritual forces hard at work to gain humanity's allegiance. Every day people are faced with choices that affect their future for good or bad. This tug-o-war is especially relevant to Christians; for it is the Christians who have made a conscious choice to believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ as their hope in this life and that to come. But in doing so, they come face-to-face with the reality that God's will, according to Scripture, is to conform them to be like Christ. As the Holy Spirit works in our lives He illuminates us to the reality of holiness and living a life that is fitting for the saints - one that glorifies Jesus. On the other hand, the world, which is at enmity with God, tugs powerfully on our heart strings in its attempt to pull us into its camp and away from the Lord. In the book you will find there are strong parallels in the Bible that speak to the state of the world and culture in the final days as being far away from a world that is pleasing in the sight of God. Are we allowing strong attachments to the world, and even stronger emotional attachments to friends and family, to empower our decision making in a way that does not lift up Jesus, thus, making our witness to the world less impacting than God desires. Jesus gave this directive to believers: "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:16). The current state of society, churches, and families is a strong indicator of the times in which we live.
