Sight-Singing for Ssa: A Practical Sight-Singing Course for Beginning and Intermediate Choirs : Singer's Edition

Sight-Singing for SSA: A Practical Sight-Singing Course for Beginning and Intermediate Choirs by Emily Crocker and Joyce Eilers is a vocal methodology resource created for SSA choirs in junior high and high school. Developed by the authors of Patterns of Sound and The Choral Approach to Sight Singing, it presents a practical sight-singing course that begins from square one with no previous training assumed and is recommended for Grades 6-12.

The book includes three-part sight-singing exercises together with accompanied and a cappella songs that reinforce newly introduced musical elements. Musical concepts are introduced in a logical sequence, allowing singers and directors to build confidence while developing consistent sight-reading skills through progressive exercises and repertoire.

By combining sequential exercises with complete musical selections, this resource supports choir rehearsals, classroom instruction, and regular vocal study. Directors can easily incorporate the structured lessons into rehearsals, while singers strengthen ensemble coordination and musical independence through carefully organized practice rooted in authentic choral literature.
