Sign Language & Family (Everyday Sign Language Set 1)

This book introduces young readers to American Sign Language words for family members. Each page features one family sign within an everyday situation a child might be apart of. The opposite page has a bright, fun image as well as an illustration of the sign created by an in-house designer and simple, step-by-step directions. K-Gr 2-Integrating early literacy skills with American Sign Language, this beginning reader series teaches how to sign a range of different words and letters. Books, which cover themes like colors, family members, and food, focus on important vocabulary words associated with the topic. Each page includes a sentence showing that term in use, along with clear directions on how to sign it and a small illustrated visual. These titles have been designed with beginning readers in mind, and each page features a bright, full-page photograph that corresponds to the text on the page. The ASL alphabet and a short visual glossary are included at the end, along with code for Abdo Kids Online, which features printables, videos, and links to extend learning.
