Handsome signature and sentiment, 3½" X 2", n.p., 1898 December 1. Fine. Tipped to a high-quality larger sheet, with a 5" X 7" printed portrait of Schley tipped above this. "May God always bless our / people and our Country! / W.S. Schley / Rear admiral U.S.N. / Dec 1st, 1898." A choice patriotic statement, dated shortly after his victorious return from the Battle of Santiago. Tastefully, archivally double matted under Conservation Clear ultraviolet-filtering glass in a ½" antiqued silver frame (overall dimensions 10 3/4" X 15½").
