Add to basketAlthough the 1971 "Eleanor and Franklin" -- winner of the 1972 Pulitzer Prize for biography and the National Book Award -- was the high point of this American author's career, his other notable works include the 1980 "Helen and Teacher: The Story of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan Macy." Signed First Day Cover, 6½" X 3½", cancelled in Tuscumbia, Alabama, on 27 June 1980 and with "First Day of Issue" stamped. Fine. Single 15-cent "Helen Keller Anne Sullivan" stamp at upper right. No decorative cachet at left; no recipient's name/address. Lash signed boldly in full at lower left in blue ballpoint, beneath the typed statement "Joseph P. Lash, author of the book, Helen and Teacher." Quite handsome.
