Signs of Life

Rogan Sneed . . . Portland's Worst Nightmare

High school teacher Tyson Cooper is just dismissing his class when a student flashes his phone. "Another shooting, Mr. C."

And this one is too close to home. Tyson races to Pioneer Square . . . but he's too late. The light of his life has been snuffed out-and so has his faith.

Veteran Portland Police Investigator Wayne Deetz, two years shy of retirement, is charged with leading the interrogations. When he meets 19-year-old shooter Rogan Sneed face-to-face, his life is changed forever.

Will Tyson settle for anything less than the death penalty in the case against Rogan Sneed? He's bent on justice and will do anything to make Rogan pay for the pain he inflicted on Tyson and the entire city of Portland on that rainy, haunting May day.

★★★★★ Another Homerun. I have read all of Creston's novels and never been disappointed. This new one is another homerun in my opinion. The story goes back and forth between the two main characters in a very unique way. I don't want to spoil anything but I will say that by the time you get about half way through the story it really is difficult to put it down. I loved it.

★★★★★ This was a great book. Faith-based thriller and very hard to put down. I've read several books by this author and they were all spellbinding. Well worth reading Mr. Mapes books!

★★★★★ Our Book Club Loved It! Creston has done it again! He draws you into the story with well-developed characters . . . I look forward to a sequel and other books from this author.

★★★★★ Nail-biting adventure. Thank you Creston Mapes for another edge-of-my-seat, nail-biting story. Couldn't put it down!

Creston Mapes is a bestselling author of Christian fiction, widely known for his contemporary Christian suspense and faith-based thrillers that weave spiritual warfare, redemption, and moral tension into gripping, high-stakes narratives. His novels boldly explore current-day themes, culture, and social hot buttons, making his work especially appealing for fans of Christian fiction, mysteries, and suspense.

Creston grew up in northeast Ohio, where he has fond memories of living with his family of five in the upstairs portion of his father's early American furniture store, The Weathervane Shop. He graduated with a degree in journalism from Bowling Green State University and began his career as a newspaper reporter and photographer in Ohio and Florida before moving to Atlanta, Georgia, to work as a creative copywriter.

After serving as a creative director at Walk Thru the Bible Ministries, Creston realized his calling was not management, but storytelling. He became a freelance writer in 1991 and, over the next 30+ years, worked with brands and organizations including Chick-fil-A, Coca-Cola, The Weather Channel, Oracle, ABC-TV, TNT Sports, colleges and universities, and national ad agencies.

Creston has written numerous contemporary Christian suspense novels and Christian thrillers, achieved Amazon Bestseller status multiple times, and had one of his novels (Nobody) optioned as a major motion picture. He has also ghostwritten more than ten nonfiction books. His faith-based fiction consistently blends fast-paced suspense with biblical themes, ethical struggles, and hope, earning him a devoted readership.

He married his fourth-grade sweetheart, Patty, and together they have four adult children. When not writing, Creston enjoys his part-time job as an usher at local venues, where he gets to see concerts and sporting events. His interests include pickleball, fishing, reading, thrifting, bocce, painting, bowling, spending time with family, and dating his wife.
