And Rachid, who, at the age of 4, did not use language to communicate, but could read numbers consisting of several digits and count objects up to twelve. Laurent Danon-Boileau is Professor of General Linguistics and Language Acquisition at Université René Descartes (Sorbonne, Paris V). He is also a practising psychoanalyst and a member of the Societé Psychanalytique de Paris who works with children at the Centre Alfred-Binet, Paris. He has published widely in the area of linguistics, language acquisition, and psychoanalysis, and is also a published novelist.
