The Silent Tree Remembers: Conversation from a Tree's Perspective

Perfect for Earth Day! Ideal for Arbor Day! Have you ever wondered what a conversation with a tree might be like?

If you love trees, you'll adore this heartwarming story about a tree sharing memories with a man who, with a saw in hand, is pondering the idea of cutting it down. You'll quickly fall in love with this charming old tree and its personality. But ultimately, will the man cut down the tree even after he is reminded of the many delightful moments they've shared over the years?

Hiruni's illustrations beautifully capture each scene and make us feel that we are under the enchanting spell of the tree. With each page turn, we are reminded of our own experiences with nature and the simple joys that trees give us. Children are engaged in the interactive and repetitive rhythm of questions, thoughts, and descriptive snapshots throughout the book.

Unique to picture books, the final pages include tips for parents and teachers to engage children in reading and writing using The Silent Tree Remembers. While enjoying the story, parents and teachers can engage children in a way that helps them become even better readers and writers.

Carol June Franks has always loved being in the woods surrounded by trees. So it is not surprising that she created the character of a tree with human-like thoughts and actions in The Silent Tree Remembers. She shares, "How fun it is to imagine all the different personalities of trees in the woods!"As a teacher, Carol June Franks wanted to write in a way to engage her students in reading and to model what it means to be a writer. Participating in Louisville Writing Project's Summer Institute, Carol learned how to write alongside her students interacting with them throughout the process. The Silent Tree Remembers began as a story shared with her students. Carol's goal is to publish children's books that are not only enjoyable for all ages to read, but also can be used by parents and teachers to enhance children's reading and writing abilities. Carol is a firm believer that picture books are a perfect venue for learning to read and write well. Learn more about Carol at https: //www.junebugtales.com.
