The Silvae of Statius is a collection of poems by the Roman poet Publius Papinius Statius. Originally published in the first century AD, this collection features a variety of poems on different subjects, including nature, mythology, and personal experiences. The poems are written in a variety of styles, from epic and lyrical to elegiac and pastoral. This 1908 edition of The Silvae of Statius includes a comprehensive introduction and notes by scholar D. A. Slater, providing historical and literary context for the poems. The book is a valuable resource for students and scholars of Roman literature and poetry, as well as anyone interested in the art and culture of ancient Rome. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
