Full dark maroon calf leather binding, with raised banding and extensive gilt decoration to spine, gilt paneled boards and gilt edge dentelles, and attarctive gilt crest.Yellowled endpapers and all gilt page edges. In very good condition. Some minor rubbing to edges. Rear corners a little bumped. Prize labels to front endpaper, ?King?s College London.? V.g. in brown diced calf with gilt tooled lining and 4 small motifs on front and rear boards. Gilt decoration to edges of boards and gilt to all edges of textblock. 5 raised bands on faded spine with gilt decoration and lettering between each band. Marbled pastedowns and flyleaves at front and rear. Navy silk page marker. Prize bookplate of Harrow School dated 21st December 1885 on front pastedown. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 8vo, lviii + 560pp. Colored frontispiece (schematic section across Egypt to Syria) , 6 coloured maps (3 folding out), 5 woodcut plans in text. Volume is a handsomely bound prize volume from King's College, London given for Divinity in the Easter term of 1878. Book is bound in brown leather gilt tooling and titles to spine which has five raised bands, tooling to both boards and gilt coat of arms of King's College London to front board. Plain endpapers, gilt decoration to all edges. Prize label of the Council of King's College, London pasted to front pastedown. Very good clean and tight copy in very attractive presentation.
