For many, “worship” in the church is something to be tolerated. We wade our way through lyric slides until we gratefully reach the end. While we know we should be worshiping, we don’t feel embraced or particularly drawn in by the process, and can’t find the motivation. It all just seems so rote.

The music is the highest quality, but nobody sings.

You have great musicians, but no broad community.

You have gifted young people, but no place for them.

The church has focused so heavily on the music that we’ve sailed past the intent of our worship. Music has become the object. And, excellence has become the goal.

So many people are disillusioned by the music of the church, and long for a true worshiping experience

In this book, BDR takes us on a journey of observation and discovery. Let’s reflect on what it means to be a musical church. And learn how to build a broad community of musicians, and to lead worship from an authentic and real place.
