Blue cloth boards with gilt lettering to front and spine. Blindstamp decoration to front and spine. Spine darkened/discoloured. Corners are bumped and worn. Top and bottom of spine bumped. FEP has a small label from previous book store. Front inner hinge ffep has previous owner's name, dated 1920. Rear inner hinge half-title is darkened. Textblock frontispiece showing Sir David Wilkie is a little grubby. Tissue paper protection is intact. Some staining throughout text. Contains black and white plates. All are present but the plates between pages 72/73, 128/129, and 168/169 are detached. When securely packed this item will weigh in the region of 607g.
