They are intended for use by individuals or organisations who are involved in the planning, specification, procurement, supervision and execution of such work. For each project, the objectives and anticipated hazards should be clearly defined and categorised to enable the site investigation contractor to select the appropriate plant, equipment, drilling methods, materials and protective measures for the safe investigation for the site. These guidelines are not intended to replace any Acts, Codes, Regulations or any other documents which have a legal or contractual force. Nevertheless, it is recommended that these guidelines be incorporated into the contract documents in order to improve practice and safety when drilling on landfills and contaminated land.
