Sitting With the Buddha : The Discourse on Brahma's Net

Max Makki, author and translator, invites you on an incredible journey through the Buddha's teachings. Sitting with the Buddha aims to be a voluminous series spanning the Pali Canon; encompassing the full spectrum of Buddhism's earliest literary works. Max transforms his translations from the traditional Pali format into a more immersive dialog between actors. The reader becomes audience to an ancient spectacle whose very content is metamorphosed into the keys of enlightenment.

How do honorable beings arrive at the conclusion that consciousness survives death, or that the soul is eternal? The Buddha addresses these and other questions in his discourse on Brahma's net.

This discourse opens the Digha Nikaya—The Lengthy Discourses—to a metaphorical sixty-two grid net. Each grid within the net represents a theory used by recluses and Brahmans who speculate about the past and future. It is said the net encompasses innumerable beings and entraps even the Almighty Brahma.
