8vo [21 x 14 cm]; 2 volumes, xiii, 374, [ii, ads]; ix, 368 pp, hand colored lithographed frontis in each volume, plus 18 other tinted lithographed plates, from the paintings of the authors, with the half titles in each volume. original red pictorial gilt and blind-stamped cloth, gilt spine title lettering and design, spine ends and edge wear, presentation bookplate on endpaper, very good, unmarked and clean copy. Robinson 109: 'Armed with their sketch-books, the Catlow sisters, natural historian both, set out for the Alps. . . exploring the gentler slopes of Switzerland and Italy. Their illustrations are gentle, delicate landscapes; it is a very seemly book, this, written to encourage other in similar maidenly circumstances to travel too'. With their interesting detailed account of topography, geography and the peoples. A picture of this book is available on request.

Prices are in US funds, shipping/insurance extra, we ship world-wide & securely wrap and pack all books. There is no handling charge and shipping is at cost. We ship by post office, UPS, FedEx, etc. Payment by US check on US bank, US international money order, Paypal, credit card via a secure server (do not email cc details), or wire transfer to our bank. Shipping terms
Shipping costs include packing, wrapping. All books are wrapped and packed securely in several layers. The shipping costs shown here by ABE are only for light books weighing under 1 kilogram or 2 pounds and do not reflect the actual cost. For heavier books or more valuable books requiring extra insurance, especially when shipped internationally, there may be an extra cost. We will contact you quoting the total shipping cost by surface or air mail and you can decide. Please note that shipping costs are beyond our control.
