The Skin of Him

A masterpiece doesn't know it's in a gallery.

Sam Bell believes he is alone. He thinks the hollow ache in his chest is a simple need for connection. He thinks a man named Nick can fill the void.

He is wrong. The void is me.

For thirty-four lifetimes, I have been Sam's invisible curator. I am the ancient shadow that has pruned his history-burning away every friend, family, and lover who dared to touch what is mine. I have spent eons polishing his soul into a masterpiece of refined suffering.

As I move from the shadows into the light, the very foundations of reality begin to fracture. This is not just a conquest of one man's heart; it is a shift in the cosmic balance of epic proportions.

Sam thinks he is finding a lover. He is actually finding his owner.

The curation is complete. The skin is enough.

Dark Monarch is a horror author whose work thrives on the edge of ritual and revelation. Writing from a retreat on the edge of the woods in Croatia, Monarch channels silence, static, and shadow into stories that blur the line between the sacred and the corrupted.
Their fiction is known for weaving psychological dread with theological tension, where faith falters, technology betrays, and the human mind becomes the most fragile channel of all. With a style that is both intimate and mythic, Monarch invites readers into worlds where possession feels disturbingly real, madness spreads like a contagion, and every transmission carries the risk of opening a door that cannot be closed.
After publishing their first book, Monarch continues to expand a growing mythos-collections and sagas that elevate horror into scripture, hymns, and ritual. Dead Channels: Tales of the Unholy and Unwired is not just a book of stories, but a broadcast from the abyss, a communal invitation to tune in and listen to what should never be heard.
While not writing, Monarch is on his road bike, cycling through winding paths, taking photos, recording videos, and gathering inspiration in the light-fuel that transforms into darkness on the page. For Monarch, every creative milestone is treated as ritual, every ending crowned with mythic closure, and every reader welcomed into the dark communion of his work.
