Skinwalker: Reborn

Some doors should never be opened.

When seventeen-year-old Tomas follows his best friend Tommy into a forgotten cave deep in the Arizona canyon country, he doesn't go all the way in. He stops at the threshold, feels the cold, and then turns around.

Tommy doesn't.

What Tommy unwraps in that chamber is a small figure, sealed away for a thousand years by hands that knew exactly what they were doing. It is not something that can be unwrapped and put back. It is hungry and it has chosen.

In the weeks that follow, Tomas watches his best friend become a stranger wearing Tommy's face. His smile arrives a half-second late, he stops sleeping, and stands too close to people in pain. Then, just as Tommy seems to come back to himself, Tomas's father - a fire captain and a good man- begins to change. And Tomas's mother, who has spent her whole life hiding what she knows, finally has to admit she's been waiting for this her entire life.

To save what's left of his father, Tomas will travel to his grandfather's land on the reservation, sit inside a sweat lodge with a medicine man and learn that some things don't go away. They wait. And remember the ones who saw them.

And they always come back for what they've chosen.

A slow-burn horror novel about family, inheritance, and the terrible cost of bearing witness, Skinwalker: Reborn is a story about the boy left standing on the other side of a door that will never quite close again.

"You see it now. That's why it chose you."
