The Sky Took Fire: The Rise of the Ashen Guard

For three hundred years, humanity has known peace.

Nations have become communities. Borders and armies have disappeared. The weapons that once threatened civilization have been dismantled and melted into monuments bearing two words: Never Again.

Humanity believed it had finally outgrown war.

Then the sky took fire.

When an alien force known as the Kheth descends upon Earth, a civilization built for cooperation suddenly faces an enemy it no longer knows how to fight. Communications collapse. Cities fall silent. The old knowledge of resistance survives only in fragments—in forgotten archives, buried installations, forbidden disciplines, and among people willing to remember what their peaceful world chose to forget.

From that memory rises the Ashen Guard.

Annaya Cross and those drawn into the resistance must rediscover more than weapons and military strategy. They must learn how to fight without allowing war to remake them into the very kind of civilization humanity once rejected.

As underground councils become battlefields and resistance spreads from the Earth to orbit, the struggle against the Kheth becomes something larger: a confrontation with obedience, power, sacrifice, trauma, memory, and the dangerous difference between defending freedom and learning to control others.

And beneath the conflict, something else is awakening.

Something in the fire is beginning to think.

When the Sky Took Fire: The Rise of the Ashen Guard is a science-fiction story of invasion and resistance, but also a story about what happens when a peaceful people are forced to recover the parts of themselves they believed civilization no longer needed—and must decide what deserves to survive when the world they built begins to burn.
