Black wrappers with three decorative title panels. Lettering in black and red. Wrappers worn along edges, corners, and spine. Corners creased. Internally clean with the occasional spot of soiling. Very Good. This booklet is a collection of readings selected by the Department of American Studies at Amherst College, as part of their Problems in American Civilization series. There are a total of eight articles, including The Slave Power Conspiracy: 1830-1860 by Russel B. Nye and South Carolina and the Idea of Southern Nationalism by Rollin G. Osterweis.
