Slipper Has a New Home

While Slipper is a small little cat, new to the world, she is not afraid of exploring! Still, this new house feels big and lonely, and Slipper feels a bit scared. She needs to muster up the courage to go outside and speak to someone, and befriend someone as well. How will Slipper get over her fear of this new place and make friends?

“Slipper has a New Home” is the first in a series of Slipper and Friends books by Tess Rixen, a thirteen-year-old author who devotes most of her time to writing, and only writing. Here, Slipper tells of the hard transition of moving from an old home into a new one.

As she transfers to not only a new home, but a new owner, Slipper is connected to human feelings of this situation in real life. Most young kids will feel sad, confused and/or scared in this kind of scenario. Leaving old friends, meeting new people around the neighborhood, adjusting to a new place and creating new friendships is not an easy task.

Parents, if you’re looking for a book to help your child cope with moving, this cute, beautifully illustrated little book will do just that.

Tess Rixen is a thirteen-year-old author who devotes most of her time to writing, and only writing. This is her first book for children. The inspiration for Slipper books comes from a list of rules she made in late 2009, when she was around 7 or 8. She just moved from Georgia to Connecticut with her family, and list of rules was her way of inserting some order in a bit scary, unknown and new environment. Even though... she wasn't very good at spelling at the time, Tess had lots of fun writing the 'rules'. She follows them to this day!
