The Slow Turning Towards the Spring Light: Poetry & Prose from Imbolg, Ostara to Bealtaine

The Slow Turning Towards the Spring Light is a contemplative blend of poetry and prose that walks the threshold between winter and spring, from Imbolg to Ostara. Rooted in seasonal observation, folklore, and the lived rhythms of land and weather, this book traces the patient return of light and life as it happens slowly, imperfectly, and with grace.

Spring does not arrive all at once. It comes quietly—through rain-light and frost, through the first birds testing the air, through green stirring underfoot.

Across seventeen reflective chapters—each ending with an original poem—Kevin McManus explores candle and well, lambing fields and frost mornings, equinox balance, hare-light, eggs and seeds, and the quiet authority of the tree of life in spring. These pieces are not instructions or rituals, but invitations: to notice, to pause, and to move gently with the season’s turning.

Written in a lyrical, grounded voice, this is a book for readers who love nature writing, seasonal living, Irish and Celtic themes, and reflective, literary nonfiction. It is a companion for late winter and early spring, to be read slowly and returned to year after year.

Perfect for readers of poetry, prose, folklore, and seasonal reflection.
