About this Item
A collection of 16 newsletters. All items very good or better with tears from opening, folds, and slight edgewear. A small collection of the newsletter *Transit Topics* produced by the Virginia Transit Company of Richmond, Virginia in the 1950s collected by an employee of the company. The Virginia Transit Company was the transit division for Norfolk and Richmond between 1944 and 1973 when it was split into two separate companies for each city. The company originally operated streetcars but by the end of the 1940s was making a switch to motor buses. These newsletters feature a header which reads, "Transit Topics Go By Bus Leave Worries Behind." Some headlines include, "Suggestion for a Pleasant Visit. Why Not Go by Bus?"; "232 Virginia Transit Bus Operators Here Are Honored This Week for Accident-Free Driving Records"; and "Save and Save and Save!!!" The newsletters boast the benefits of public transportation including savings, rides to church, and flexibility. They also let customers know about new schedules, fares, and rerouting. An interesting archive following 1950s public transportation in Virginia. Seller Inventory # 459213
