- Book 5 of 7: Marketing Made Easy: Your Small Business Playbook
We begin by clarifying the fundamental difference between "intent-based" advertising (like Google Ads, where people are actively searching for what you offer) and "interest-based" advertising (like Facebook Ads, where you introduce your business to people who fit your ideal customer profile). This distinction is crucial for deciding where to start your advertising journey.
The book then dives deep into Google Ads, showing you how to target specific customers with precision and create landing pages that turn clicks into sales. We'll bust the myth that paid advertising is a "set it and forget it" task, emphasizing the ongoing management and tweaks needed for success. You'll learn about powerful tactics like remarketing, which brings back customers who've already shown interest, significantly boosting your chances of a sale.
Finally, we'll explore exciting, less traditional digital ad channels like Programmatic Digital-Out-of-Home (pDOOH) – those smart digital billboards you see everywhere – and Connected TV (CTV), which lets you run TV-like commercials on streaming services. We'll also touch on the enduring power of print marketing and how it can work hand-in-hand with your digital ad efforts.
Key Takeaways From This Book Include:
- Intent vs. Interest: Understanding the fundamental difference between advertising to people actively searching for your product/service (intent-based, e.g., Google Ads) and those who fit your ideal customer profile but may not be actively looking (interest-based, e.g., social media ads). This knowledge is key to selecting the right platforms.
- Precision Targeting: Learning how to use platforms like Google Ads to reach highly specific audiences who are already demonstrating a need for what you offer, leading to more qualified leads and better conversion rates.
- The Landing Page Imperative: Recognizing that a dedicated, conversion-focused landing page is essential for paid advertising success, rather than directing traffic to your homepage.
- Active Management is Crucial: Debunking the "set it and forget it" myth for paid ads. Success requires ongoing monitoring, optimization, and adaptation to market changes and campaign performance.
- Remarketing Power: Understanding and implementing remarketing strategies to re-engage with users who have previously interacted with your business, significantly increasing the likelihood of conversion.
- Exploring Advanced Channels: Gaining an introduction to newer, powerful advertising avenues like Programmatic Digital-Out-of-Home (pDOOH) and Connected TV (CTV), making advanced advertising accessible.
- Integrating Digital and Print: Discovering how traditional print marketing can still play a valuable role and be effectively integrated with digital advertising efforts for a comprehensive approach.
- Maximizing ROI: Developing a strategic approach to paid advertising that focuses on continuous optimization to ensure the best possible return on investment for your marketing spend.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
