There he was, a soccer player who had difficulties scoring. He wanted to be the best but lacked the confidence and know-how to make his goal a reality. Every day, he dreamed about improving, but the average coaching and lack of knowledge left him feeling alone and like he couldn't attain his goal. This all changed after his junior year on the Varsity team of one of the largest high schools in the state. During the team and parent banquet at the end of the season, his coach decided to say something nice about each player. When it came to his turn to receive praise, the only thing that could be said was that he had scored two goals that season against a lousy team, so they didn't really count...

It was a very painful statement that after the 20+ game season, all that could be said of his efforts were two goals that didn't count.
