Social network analysis dates back to the early 20th century, with initial studies focusing on small group behavior from a sociological perspective. The emergence of the Internet and subsequent increase in the use of online social networking applications has caused a shift in the approach to this field. Faced with complex, large datasets, researchers need new methods and tools for collecting, processing, and mining social network data. I-Hsien Ting is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Management, National University of Kaohsiung, TAIWAN from 2008. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, the University of York, UK in 2008, His research interests are focusing on Data Mining and E-commerce, particular on Web Mining, Social Network Analysis and Decision Support Systems, Web Intelligence, E-commerce, Semantic Web. He used to be a chair in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd International workshop on mining social networks for decision support (MSNDS 2009, 2010, 2011) and 1st and 2nd International workshop on web mining application in E-commerce and E-services (WMEE 2007) and a co-organizer in a special session of ICHIT 2006 conference and he also joined as a member of program committee in several conferences. Furthermore, he is now also a member of editorial advisory board of Online Information Review and as a referee in some academic Journals, such as Journal of Information Science and in the editorial review board of Journal of Information, CyberPsychology and Behavior, Neurocomputing, Information Technology and Organizations. In additional, he is now editing two journal special issues in Journal of Online Information Review and Journal of Intelligent Information Systems. About academic paper publishing, he published more than twenty conference and journal papers in international journals, such as Journal of Web Engineering, Information Research Journal.
Tzung-Pei Hong received his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from National Taiwan University in 1985 and his Ph.D. degree in computer science and information engineering from National Chiao-Tung University in 1992. He was a faculty at the Department of Computer Science in Chung-Hua Polytechnic Institute from 1992 to 1994 and at the Department of Information Management in I-Shou University from 1994 to 2001. Since 2001, he has served as Director of Library and Computing Center, Dean of Academic Affair and Vice President of National University of Kaohsiung. He is currently a distinguished professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering and the department of Computer Science and Information Engineering in National University of Kaohsiung. His current research interests include machine learning, data mining, soft computing, management information systems, WWW applications and has published more than 300 technical papers.
Leon Shyue-Liang Wang received his Ph.D. from State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1984. From 1984 to 1987, he joined the University of New Haven as assistant professor. From 1987 to 1994, he joined New York Institute of Technology as assistant/associate professor. From 1994 to 2002, he joined I-Shou University in Taiwan and served as Director of Computing Center, Director of Library and Chairman of Information Management Department. In 2002, he joined National University of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. In 2003, he rejoined NYIT. He is now professor and chairman in National University of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He has published over 150 papers in the areas of data mining and soft computing and served as a PC member of several national and international conferences. He is a member of the board of Chinese American Academic and Professional Society, USA.
