About the Author:
Mike Jefferies is a chartered civil engineer. Graduating from King’s (London), an interest in theoretical soil mechanics lead to an MSc from Imperial. He has worked for Golder Associates since 1978, with a ten year absence largely at Gulf Canada. Based in Vancouver and an Associate of the company since 1992, Mike is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Manchester.
Ken Been is a chartered civil engineer. Graduating from University of Cape Town, an interest in experimental soil mechanics and a Rhodes Scholarship lead to a PhD at Oxford. He has worked as a geotechnical consultant for Golder Associates since 1981, becoming a Principal of the company in 1991. He is presently based in Houston.
