Master Hybrid Solar Systems, Battery Storage Integration, and Safe Field Installation with Complete Jobsite Confidence.
The transition to resilient clean energy requires electrical professionals to look beyond standalone photovoltaic arrays. Modern microgrids, commercial facilities, and residential backup systems demand integrated Solar-Plus-Storage systems (Solar-BESS) built to handle dynamic loads, bidirectional power flow, and stringent safety standards.
Solar PV & Battery Energy Storage Systems: The Practical Field Guide to Solar-BESS Sizing, Hybrid Inverters, Circuit Protection, Installation & Troubleshooting delivers a direct, calculation-driven engineering manual for sizing, installing, and servicing modern energy storage infrastructure. Developed for field technicians, electrical contractors, and system engineers, this manual removes high-level theory to focus entirely on the calculations, protection schemes, and hardware configurations used in real-world projects.
What You Will Master Inside:-
PV & BESS System Sizing: Step-by-step calculation methodologies for solar arrays, usable battery capacity, depth of discharge (DoD), autonomous runtime, and DC-to-AC oversizing ratios.
-
Battery Chemistries & BMS Architecture: Technical analysis of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) vs. NMC, flow batteries, Battery Management System (BMS) communication protocols (CAN/Modbus), state of charge (SoC) management, and thermal runaway prevention.
-
Inverter Configurations & Coupling Strategies: Detailed single-line schematics comparing DC-coupled vs. AC-coupled setups, hybrid string inverters, central power conversion systems (PCS), and seamless off-grid transfer switching.
-
Circuit Protection & Arc Safety: Sizing DC disconnects, rapid shutdown systems (RSS), DC arc-fault circuit interrupters (AFCI), ground-fault protection, and coordinated overcurrent protection devices (OCPD).
-
Earthing, Bonding & Code Compliance: Grounding electrode system installation, equipment bonding, neutral-ground bonding in islanded microgrid modes, and compliance with NFPA 855 fire protection and NEC requirements.
-
Commissioning, Field Diagnostics & Maintenance: Systematic testing procedures, open-circuit voltage ($V_$) verification, short-circuit current testing ($I_$), battery impedance measurement, thermal imaging scans, and field fault-isolation workflows.
Every chapter combines clear technical schematics, worked mathematical examples, lookup tables, and structured diagnostic flowcharts. Whether you are installing a residential hybrid backup setup or commissioning a multi-megawatt commercial BESS, this handbook serves as your practical, daily reference companion.

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
