Soldiers Of The Prophet (1921)

Soldiers of the Prophet is a historical book written by C.C.R. Murphy in 1921. The book is an account of the Mahdist War, which took place in Sudan from 1881 to 1899. The Mahdist War was a conflict between the Sudanese Mahdist forces and the British and Egyptian armies. The book covers the events leading up to the war, the battles that took place, and the aftermath of the conflict. Murphy provides a detailed account of the military tactics used by both sides, as well as the political and social factors that contributed to the war. The book also explores the role of religion in the conflict, as the Mahdist forces were led by a religious leader who claimed to be the Mahdi, or the prophesied redeemer of Islam. Soldiers of the Prophet is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of Sudan, the British Empire, or the role of religion in warfare. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
