Very good impression. Outer margin with some minor wear light dampstain at lower margin edge but no affect to the block or illustration. King Solomon Judgement betwixt the two harlots - two mothers in the throne room before King Solomon a dead child lies at Solomons feet while the disputed child is held by a guard who prepares to divide the child into two. Plate number 46. Nicolas Chapron After Raphaels frescoes in the Vatican Loggia. Most suitable for framing. Scarce piece. From Pierre Marriette ?Sacrae historia acta a Raphael Urbin in Vaticanis xystis? first printed in Rome in 1649 and then brought to Paris to reprint in the same year. Nicolas Chaperon (d1656) was a French painter and engraver, most famous for his suite of engravings after the Raphael Loggie of the Vatican (our work here). Little else is known of him.
