Songs for the Seasons: Poems of Rilke and His Age (Neglected Voices)

The name of Rainer Maria Rilke is familiar to many English readers, and that of Georg Trakl only somewhat less so. But the age during which these two poets lived was one marked by many other worthy poets in the German language. This book, then, seeks to give these other figures, several of them women, the wider audience they deserve, while also showcasing their own—as well as Rilke’s and Trakl’s, keen and sensitive responses to nature throughout the seasons of the year.Other poets featured include Paul Boldt, Theodor Däubler, Max Dauthendey, Paula Dehmel, Richard Dehmel, Felix Dörmann, Stefan George, Georg Heym, Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Friederike Kempner, Hedwig Lachmann, Detlev von Liliencron, Ernst Wilhelm Lotz, Emerenz Meier, Clara Müller-Jahnke, Alfons Petzold, Gustav Renner, Joachim Ringelnatz, Anna Ritter, Heinrich Seidel, Ernst Stadler, Josef Weinheber, Maria Luise Weissmann, and Paul Zech.
