It explores several key songwriters who provided audio vehicles that were utilized by artists like Elvis Presley, The Everly Brothers, and The Drfiters as well as by the composers themselves. Finally, it examines several topics that were prominent within the lyrics of pop songs during this period. Obviously, there are many other routes that might have been pursued during an investigation of this revolutionary musical era. Biographies of important vocalists and key instrumental artists are commonly explored, but not here. The roles of musical gatekeepers like disc jockeys (Alan Freed) and television icons (Dick Clark) have also been highlighted, but not here. And leadership from recording industry executives (Sam Phillips, Ahmet Ertegun, and Syd Nathan) has been examined, but not here. While these latter three categories are undoubtedly relevant, this manuscript concentrates on three other equally important, but far less frequently analyzed areas of study.
