K-Gr 2-These two rhymed series entries take a look at common childhood emotions. In the first title, a girl identifies all the times she needs to say she is sorry-when she is late, when people are sick or sad, or when she spills or breaks things. It ends with a rhymed couplet reminding children to say they're sorry because it "makes everyone feel better." In the second title, the same girl describes all the frustrating things that can happen in one day. Her coat won't zip, her pants are too long, she fights with her sister, etc. In the end, a talk with her mother helps. Unfortunately, in both books the singsong texts undermine the depth of the emotions they discuss. Stick with Caralyn Buehner's I Did It, I'm Sorry (Dial, 1998) and Judith Viorst's Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.
