The Soul of a Dog is a truly extraordinary, eye-opening exploration of what makes dogs our favorite four-legged companions.
The Soul of a Dog is one man's autodidact rehabilitation of vicious, predatory dogs considered by behaviorism's top experts as impossible. The processes to correlate highly complex dysfunctions as quantifiable psychosomatic manifestations, across sophisticated familial-species.
In this captivating book, James Tsai weaves together personal stories, scientific research, and deep compassion to reveal the hidden truths of canine behavior and explains humanity's timeless bond with dogs is not because of human domestication. From the history of cohabitation to the emotional world of shelter dogs, Tsai illuminates the ways our loyal companions shape us-and how humanity's modern science failed them in return.
Through his detailed personal work successfully rehabilitating extremely dangerous dogs typically weighing between 150 lbs to 211 pounds, James Tsai casts reasoned logic to expose the current models of behaviorism, consciousness and artificial intelligence as incorrect. Tsai's rehabilitation of dogs with genuine human/animal predation is equally proficient with profoundly traumatized meatdogs. His success eschews behaviorism, training aids, food, medication, corrective collars, brute force/alpha. Tsai's book isn't a marketing claim or about training, it is remarkable work where Tsai uses "familialship" and parenting protocols to patiently and highly efficiently address behaviors in any dysfunctional dog. In turn, dispelling current academic models of training, domestication and behaviorism. Tsai explains the need to support the emotional world of shelter dogs is an obligation of being human.

James is the first of his siblings to be born in Canada. Growing up with a father fluent in seventeen languages and mother with a photographic memory, sibling rivalry inspired James to see the world beyond the competitive advantage. From working on calculus by grade six to failing to complete grade ten and dropping out of high school, James thought of business. He opened a niche footwear store on Richards Street in Vancouver and, a year later, buying the manufacturer for Sunset Strip Shoes in Los Angeles. His next business provided enclosed, high-value vehicle transport: JETSAI SuperCar Transport. During this period, James also began fostering dangerous Great Danes. He started his nonprofit Arf Arf Bark Bark Rescue Foundation after successfully rehabilitating dogs who've viciously tried to kill people. James has survived multiple near-death experiences, including nearly drowning and being resuscitated as a child, and escaping a violent semi-truck accident in northern British Columbia during winter.
