Born in Hawaii in 1915, Florence was the daughter of Chinese immigrants. She was brought into a world filled with oppression, strict obedience and poverty. Although her life was filled with much sorrow, each obstacle took her to a higher ground rather than stumble. She lived through a massive earthquake in China, the attack on Pearl Harbor as well as mistreatment by her husband and others around her.

Florence's story is survival, humility and a human spirit that transcends tragedy. She finds solace despite the bonds of her era and circumstance. She offers the reader timeless lessons that apply to everyday life.

About the Author

Florence Sau Kin was born in Honolulu in 1915. She lived there with her husband and three children until 1969, when she moved to Portland, Oregon.

She passed on February 14, 2000
