Bronze IPPY Independent Publishers Book Award in the Western Region & Pacific category
Soul Space shares the compelling story of a family's journey to create places of beauty and welcome in a global guest retreat space and gardens. They wanted to honor the life and compassionate spirit of their 25-year-old daughter Krista Hunt Ausland who was killed while volunteering with her husband Aaron in Bolivia.
After launching the Krista Foundation for Global Citizenship that encourages other young adults engaged in volunteer service, the Hunts replaced a dilapidated barn with the 'Hearth' and gardens that centers many gatherings. Seven Blessings, prayed by guests during the groundbreaking, anchor the inspiring stories from Krista Colleagues, many community groups, and visitors from around the world who find this a restorative peaceful place that nurtures their spirits.
With 180 beautifully illustrated photographs, this coffee-table style book invites readers to imagine how anyone can cultivate their own Hearth spaces. Creating such intentional places will gift their families, friends and communities with warmth and welcome, much needed in today's world.
