From the opening paragraph, "Few more absorbing pages will be found in the annals of travel and discovery than those which relate to the distant archipelagoes of the South Pacific." Illustrations include a view at Banks Islands, Fingasa or Massacre Bay, a native teacher at Upolu, a stone monument at Tongatabu, the Queen of Tonga, King George of Tonga, King George's house at Tongatabu, pools at the water-fall of Waitoba, Levuka, King Thakumbau and son, a native house at Vate, Hat Island at the entrance to Havannah Harbor, Tinakoro, Mota or Sugar-Loaf Island, Two Tree Island, Ass's Ears Florida Island, Port de France from Signal Hill, and a sea-going war canoe. Housed in protective mylar report cover.
