Southern Wealth And Northern Profits: As Exhibited in Statistical Facts and Official Figures: Showing the Necessity of Union to the Future Prosperity and Welfare of the Republic

Southern Wealth and Northern Profits is a book written by Thomas Prentice Kettell in 1860. The book presents statistical facts and official figures that demonstrate the economic disparity between the Southern states and the Northern states of the United States. Kettell argues that the South's agricultural wealth was being exploited by Northern industries, resulting in Northern profits at the expense of Southern prosperity. He believes that the only way to ensure the future prosperity and welfare of the Republic is through the preservation of the Union. The book provides a detailed analysis of the economic conditions of the time and offers a compelling argument for the necessity of national unity. Overall, Southern Wealth and Northern Profits is a valuable historical document that sheds light on the economic tensions that existed between the North and South leading up to the Civil War.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
