Space-Based Technologies in Poverty Alleviation for the Working Poor

Space-based technologies are a powerful tool for addressing poverty among the working poor by providing data and services that are difficult to achieve through ground systems alone. Satellite imagery, remote sensing, and global navigation systems can support more efficient disaster risk reduction and access to financial and communication services, areas that directly affect livelihoods and economic stability. When thoughtfully integrated with local community needs, these technologies can help improve productivity and expand opportunities for workers who are employed yet remain economically insecure. As a result, space-based solutions are increasingly being examined as a cost-effective instrument for inclusive development and poverty alleviation. Space-Based Technologies in Poverty Alleviation for the Working Poor explores the role of space intervention in combating poverty for the working poor by identifying the areas through satellite imaging. It examines how innovative data techniques, combining satellite data with socioeconomic indicators, can provide a more accurate understanding of poverty hot spots. Covering topics such as space engineering, poverty, and remote sensing, this book is an excellent resource for researchers, academicians, policymakers, sociologists, and more.
