Spanish Sentence Builders: Trilogy – Part I - GRAMMAR BOOKLET has been conceived as a supplement to our Spanish Sentence Builders: Trilogy – Part I book.

It is divided into 15 units, with matching Sentence Builders from the main Trilogy book. Each of the units is based around one Main Grammar Focus, which is explained and then taught via an array of engaging Conti, EPI, vocab building, translation and writing tasks. There are also additional Pop-up Grammar sections to introduce and teach other grammatical points required throughout the book.

TERM 1
Unit 0 – EPI Register Routine: Introducing oneself

TERM 2
Unit 6 – Talking about my family members and myself

• Grammar focus: Conjugating llevar in the present indicative

Unit 7 – OPTIONAL: Describing my hair and eyes

• Grammar focus: Reviewing tener in the present indicative with all persons

Unit 8 – Describing myself and another family member

• Grammar focus: Possessive adjectives

Unit 9 – Comparing people’s appearance and personality

• Grammar focus: Using comparatives (más… que, menos… que, tan… como)

Unit 10 – Describing my teachers and saying why I like them

• Grammar focus: Indirect object pronouns (me chilla, me ayuda, me comprende…)

Unit 11A – Saying what I and others do in our free time: jugar / hacer / ir

It should be noted that every grammatical structure in this book is included in the new GCSE specification.

If you are an EPI user:
You will employ this book in the Awareness and Expansion/Explanation phases of the MARSEARS cycle. In the Awareness phase, you will simply raise your students’ awareness of which grammatical structure you want them to focus on throughout the ensuing instructional sequence; in the latter Expansion/Explanation phase you will engage in a full-blown explanation of the target structure and will use the activities to drill it in.
