Speaking of Sexuality : Interdisciplinary Readings

In Speaking of Sexuality, Davidson and Moore provide an alternative for instructors of human sexuality courses who prefer a student-friendly - yet more rigorous and less sensationalized - set of readings than what is currently available. This anthology approaches the subject of human sexuality within the context of a health-promoting framework, spanning the life cycle from birth to death. From this perspective, the editors present sexuality as an inseparable part of an individual's personality. The readings, drawn from both journals and the popular press, dispel myths and address an array of sexuality issues at both the academic and personal level.

Speaking of Sexuality features leading works - both contemporary and classic - in sexuality research and theory. A balance is achieved with articles that encourage critical thinking about timely topics, enabling students to become more discriminating consumers of sexuality-related materials in the mass media.

This comprehensive anthology addresses many timely and thought-provoking topics not found in other sexuality readers including: the "primal scene" and children, RU-486, perimenopause, sexuality and aging, pretending orgasm, sexual guilt, sexuality and spinal cord injury, sexual scripting and token resistance, menstrual cycle phases and sexual desire, college virgins, masturbation, and sexuality laws.

A full-scale Instructor's Manual/Testing Program provides assistance for instructors. Features include a topical matrix based on current sexuality texts, article summaries, key points of each article, a general conclusion of each article, multiple-choice questions, true and false questions, essay questions, article review forms, and suggested Websites.
