B1 PRELIMINARY SPEAKING TEST
The B1 Preliminary Speaking test is designed to assess the oral proficiency of candidates at a B1 level (intermediate). It comprises four distinct parts, each testing different aspects of spoken English in various contexts:
B1 Speaking Part 1
This introductory part involves a conversation between the examiner and the candidate. Candidates are asked personal questions about familiar topics like their hobbies, daily routines, and interests.
B1 Speaking Part 2
In this part, candidates are given a colour photograph and asked to describe it. They need to speak for about a minute, focusing on describing what they see in the picture, thus testing their ability to articulate observations and details in English.
B1 Speaking Part 3
In this part, candidates are presented with a situation and some visual prompts, and they need to discuss the options and come to a decision together. It tests candidates' ability to engage in a discussion, express opinions, agree or disagree, and negotiate.
