1958. English translation. 348 pages. Pictorial dust jacket over purple cloth. Pages remain bright and clean with minimal tanning and foxing. Binding remains firm. Minor pencil inscriptions to front free endpaper. Boards have light shelf wear with minor corner bumping and crushing to spine ends. Mass Market Paperback. Condition: Good. First Paperback Edition. First UK paperback edition. This translation by Edward Hyams was Previously published in hard covers by Secker & Warburg in 1958. An earlier translation by Felix Giovanelli was published in the US by Vanguard in 1950. Originally published in France in 1944. Reading creasing and light edge rubbing to the spine which is faded along with the outer edge of the back cover. The front cover has a little browning on the border around the edges. Page edges browned with some spotting and whitish discolouration to the top edges near the corner. Browning and a little spotting to edges of the insides of the covers. Browning to the pages with slight spotting around the edges of the first and last pages but the pages are otherwise unmarked. First printing. Seller Inventory # 020422

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. The book has sound hinges and is not cocked. A single line of text (possibly a name) has been blacked out with a marker on the first free endpage; remaining pages are very lightly toned, clean, unmarked and undamaged. The book's exterior is clean and bright. The lower right corner tip of the front cover is mildly bumped. No evident rub wear. The dust jacket is not price-clipped. It shows just the slightest soiling and very light toning to edges. Wear to edges includes a few small chips and tears, the longest of which is about 1/3". A clear archival sleeve has been placed on the jacket to keep it in great shape. Book, dust jacket and sleeve will be bubble-wrapped and carefully packed in a sturdy box to ensure safe transit.
