This book aims to provide an overview of the special functions of fractional calculus and their applications in diffusion and random search processes. The book contains detailed calculations for various examples of anomalous diffusion, random search and stochastic resetting processes, which can be easily followed by the reader, who will be able to reproduce the obtained results. The book will be intended for advanced undergraduate and graduate students and researchers in physics, mathematics and other natural sciences due to the various examples which will be provided in the book.
Trifce Sandev is a research scientist at the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts and an Assistant Professor of Theoretical Physics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje, Macedonia. After completing his PhD in Theoretical Physics in 2012, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems in Dresden. He was awarded an Alexander von Humboldt research fellowship for experienced researchers for the period 2020–2022. Selected for the Presidential Award for Best Young Scientist in Macedonia (2011), his main research interest is in stochastic processes in complex systems.
Dr Alexander Iomin is a Senior Research Fellow at the Technion. He published one book, contributed many book chapters and more than hundred publications in central peer-reviewed physical journals. He is also a member of editorial boards in Fractal and Fractional (MDPI) and Advances in Mathematical Physics (Wiley Hindawi).
The main scientific interests of Dr Iomin are related with anomalous transport in complex systems of composite, inhomogeneous materials of both solid state and biological systems.
