Our Special Sunday: A Coloring Book of Friendship and Caring

A lovely coloring book to linger over that tells the story in words and art of a bond between two friends

Born on the same day, author/artist Hinano and her friend have created a special way to commemorate their connection, not on their birthday but on their half-birthday. Each year they alternate celebrating one another and this year it is Hinano’s turn to prepare the festivities for her friend.

Our Special Sunday is a delightful half hour-by-half hour recounting of the day, from 7 a.m., when Hinano rises, to when she makes her final diary entry at 11:30 p.m. In between she visits a flower shop, selects a gift for her friend, bakes a berry pie, and much more. Every step in her preparations is illustrated with a black-and-white design to color paired with a version fully colored in by Hinano, for inspiration.

Special features:

• Author/artist created—no AI or stock images: All of the art was hand-drawn by Hinano in her signature retro pop style especially for this book.
• A unique coloring book: Hinano tells a sweet story about a special day in words and art, the half birthday she shares with a friend and how she prepares for it, attending to every detail.
• Coloring inspiration: 5 step-by-steps are included, as well as fully colored versions by the artist of all the black-and-white coloring designs.
• Quality coloring experience: Printed on premium paper with a sewn binding that lets the pages open flat.
• A thoughtful gift: A beautiful package with artwork on every page, printed in 4C throughout, it’s a lovely celebration of friendship.

Hinano also includes four coloring step-by-steps, showing how to apply a base color, how to layer colors, and how to create transparency and gradations in color. Finally, she takes you through coloring one of her designs from start to finish.

Our Special Sunday is a beautiful expression of mindfulness and friendship that will have you coloring yourself contented and calm.

A graduate of Musashino Art University, affiliated with Agence LE MONDE, Hinano creates retro pop illustrations that capture nostalgia-filled moments. She lives in Japan.
